Kevlar racing sails for the price of Dacron
This is the first time you have ever seen a headline like this one on our website. It may be the last. So what's going on and why are we giving away kevlar racing sails for the price of Dacron? Here's the story.
Our production loft used to build a line of sails called Structural Tape Sails or STS. STS sails were built under
license using the patented technology that brought racers UK Tape Drive™ and Sobstad Genesis.™
We have not promoted STS as the MXL LP (load path) sails have served our customers well and are more competitively
priced than STS. So our production loft is sitting on a stockpile of
Dimension Polyant base material that is not moving. It was a wonderful holiday gift for us when this material became
available at a steep discount. These are great sails and offer tremendous durability and great shape holding. Material
choices are limited as are quantities. We are offering an Aramid (Kevlar) base with or without single taffeta.
The tapes are 5 strand Technora. Prices are amazingly low. We just sold a main for a C&C33 in Canada for under $2000.
